What is a Breastfeeding Counsellor/Infant Feeding Coach?

Breastfeeding Counsellors/Infant Feeding Coaches are here to support families at all stages of their feeding journeys, providing practical help and support with positioning and attachment, feeding difficulties, supply issues/weight gain, as well as pumping, storing and feeding expressed milk or formula.

Where are you based and what areas do you cover?

I am a Shrewsbury based Breastfeeding Counsellor covering most areas within Shropshire, as well as some surrounding areas although travel fees may apply for home visits further that 20 miles from my home address.

As you work as a paediatric nurse, can you provide medical advice?

My business is a separate to this and I cannot give medical advice. I will always advise that you seek a medical opinion if there are any concerned about yours or your babies health. However having worked in the NHS for a long time I am very familiar and comfortable with helping you to liaise with appropriate professionals.

What are your qualifications?

I am a qualified Breastfeeding Counsellor/Infant Feeding Coach. I am also a qualified Birth and Postnatal Doula and Paediatric Nurse. I am committed to continuing my learning journey and keeping up to date with current research and guidelines. I am currently training to become a tongue tie assessor and also have further specialist training in many aspects of infant feeding, but will always refer onto other specialist services if it is in yours or your babies best interest.

Is there anything else I need to know?

I am fully insured, hold a current DBS check and also provide T&C’s for appointments. I ensure that all your personal information is kept confidential.

How far in advance should I book?

It’s best to book as far in advance as possible to ensure availability with any preparation workshops, however with support with feeding once your baby arrives please contact me any time and I will endeavour to see you ASAP.
